Eczema, Win the Battle Against Dermatitis

Sometimes you can feel like you are pulling your hair out trying to figure out what is causing the eczema rash. It is a red, itchy rash that can be quite swollen. Many people notice red bumps, pink colored patches as well as dryness and flaking. As skin gets more dry it can have a leather like appearance. The biggest reason why one is constantly reminded of the eczema skin condition is due to the incessant itching.

On forums, one of the main complaints is that someone's hope was dashed due to their skin clearing up but then erupting once again a few weeks later. Eczema is chronic though there are ways to acheive relief. Staying on a strict diet of non-allergenic foods has been a cure for some people.

Pine tar soap has been helpful to some eczema sufferers and it is also recommended for people that have the pregnancy rash called pupps that occurs for some women during the third trimester. Remember to use warm water only , not rub your skin with a towel after the shower plus use a moisturizer that your skin accepts.

Atopic dermatitis often occurs within families. Other members may not have eczema rashes but they may have a sensitivity which causes asthma or other allergic reactions. Try to get a history of your family to see if your aunts, uncles and cousins may have skin problems or respiratory issues due to various environmental and food allergies.

One easy home remedy for eczema that a doctor told me was to add two teaspoons of baking soad into the bath. Many say that we have skin rashes and other medical issues due to being too acidic. Baking soda is alkalinic and neutralizes acids. This is a simple thing to test and see if your eczema rash can be soothed. Oatmeal baths are also recommended by physicians and will temporarily stop the itching.

Increasing your essential fatty acids by taking supplements of flax seed oil, evening primrose, borage oil or fish oils has resulted in nice improvements for people and I found this to be true in my case as well. When I woke up in the middle of the night, taking omega 3 oil capsules would stop the itching and reduce inflammation. Don't let this problem beat you down. It is a lot of trial and error, but there are very effective ways to control eczema.
