What Is Plaque Psoriasis?

Plaque Psoriasis, aside from being the most common type, is just psoriasis. Let me explain. Prior to being called this, it was psoriasis and before this, was thought to be leprosy.

For example... psoriasis on the scalp came to be scalp psoriasis. This began to get descriptive names many decades ago according to where on the body you had it. It's still the same, but changes its appearance depending where on the body you have it. For obvious reasons (hair mass and less skin tissue), this on the scalp has generally a different appearance then psoriasis on the elbows and knees.

Because the most common place to have psoriasis is the elbows and knees... and its scaly appearance... this was baptized. But I can assure you that I have and had it on my buttocks, and it's still the same because it's the same cause. Just a different appearance because its on the buttocks.

People are totally being led into confusion about all these types of psoriasis, while there is only one with different appearances, depending on where it is on your body because of our make-up. Since the common location is the elbows and knees... you still have it...labeled plaque psoriasis. Some have asked me "what about psoriatic arthritis". This is just someone thinking that their psoriasis is to blame for their arthritis, or the opposite. The truth of the matter is... it's just a combination of both, one having nothing to do with the other.

I hope this little explanation sheds some light on those confused about psoriasis... plaque or otherwise.
